1. Explore a 19th-century military fort by visiting the Fort Morgan State Historical Site. Purchase tickets to tour the fort, which once guarded Mobile Bay.
2. Learn about the fishing and Native American history of Orange Beach at the Indian & Sea Museum. This museum, found on John Snook Drive, is home to artifacts and memorabilia that tell the story of this region.
3. Located inside a house dating pre-World War II is the Gulf Shores Museum. Wander through new and permanent exhibits in this attraction, which is free to the public.
4. Make the short drive to Foley to visit two different spots. The Foley Railroad Museum & Model Train Exhibit showcases the town’s agriculture and railroad history. This town is also home to the Holmes Medical Museum, found inside the building that was once Baldwin County’s first hospital.
5. If you’re looking for a day trip, plan a drive to Mobile, which is home to several historical landmarks. This includes places like the USS Alabama Memorial Battleship Park and Colonial Forte Conde.
